If only I had a dollar for each time my husband had a Rambo or Rocky movie on. I’d be able to book my family trip to Rome RIGHT DAMN NOW. He doesn’t watch the entire movie when it’s on. Just has it playing in the bedroom, living room or kitchen- or hey, sometimes all three! when he is tasking on the weekends. Go up and down to the laundry – see the same movie on each floor on your way down and on your way up! Don’t miss a moment from Rambo- First Blood Part II! I mean he doesn’t need to sit and watch the movie because he’s seen it 1,476 times and HE KNOWS IT VERBATIM. Why do men watch the same damn movie over and over and over again???
Aside from all five Rambos and Rocky’s, the other movies I find on repeat in my house are Green Book, Point Break, Saving Private Ryan, My Cousin Vinny, The Green Mile, The Warriors (this is the worst movie ever in my opinion- don’t come at me if you’re a fan, this is just my opinion), Full Metal Jacket, Trading Places, Forrest Gump, 48 Hrs., and Fargo. Ugh, I mean the bloodshed in some of these movies! Time and time again. I can’t even. However, just today, I passed by and caught him watching The Bodyguard while he was making carne asada tacos. Something different! So he does have a soft heart I guess despite the bloody manly movies. Actually, he will also never live down the time several years ago, one of the kids walked by and he was watching Free Willy. To this day, he denies it.
I blame the repetitive movie habit on the fact that we still have “cable” because otherwise we can’t get the hundreds of NBA games that we watch. With dozens of movie channels, the cable companies are enabling these weekend movie fanatic men! They are also monopolizing NBA games. We are Cleveland Cavaliers fans and there’s no way to watch games each week without a cable package- there isn’t one streaming service that has them all. I wonder if the person making the weekend schedule for channels like TNT is like “yeah it’s time for Rocky 3 again!” Now that I think about it, I’m fairly certain no one is making a schedule, it’s just rinse and repeat month by month. Like pressing the “easy” button. It’s obvious men don’t mind!
